“A person’s secret to success is found in their daily agenda. People do not decide their future, they decide their habits, and their habits decide their future.” – John C Maxwell
Whether you’re aware of it or not, your life is shaped by your habits. We’re consciously and subconsciously programmed to do little things over and over again each day that will ultimately lead us down a certain path. It’s on us to be intentional about these things. If we’re not, those habits… which might seem so insignificant at the moment, could lead us down a path completely opposite of what we really want.
This week is all about bringing more intentionality to these little big things that shape the direction of your life. Today is day 1 of being more proactive with the habits that shape the two building blocks everything in life is built on…..Your Health and Mindset.
The Focus of Healthy Habits:
- Physical – Commit to self-care
- Mental – Commit to growth & mindset
- Spiritual – Commit to strengthening your inner connection
Commit to these habits daily and I promise over time you will not only feel more confident in who you are, but you will continuously perform at your best, stand tall regardless of what life throws your way gain the clarity you are seeking, and rise to your true potential in life.
1. Positive Self Talk
Goal = Each morning say something kind and loving to yourself out loud.
This is all about paying closer attention to the way you talk to yourself, having more self-compassion and being your own best friend.
2. Journaling
Goal = 20 min a day but start with what you can
This is all about releasing the thoughts in your mind, working through emotions, getting ahead of anxiousness, getting to know yourself better, and ultimately gaining more clarity.
3. Personal Growth
Goal = 10 min a day
Most people assume they will grow, that it happens automatically, but intentionality is SO important. You have to actively take steps towards becoming all you know you can be. Commit to your own growth. Read or listen to something inspiring, empowering or educational each day. As you get into it create a personal growth plan.
4. Exercise
Goal = 5-6 workouts our a week. A mix of cardio/strength workouts 5 days a week. Yoga 1x a week + daily stretch
What do we need for everything in life? Our health, bodies, and ENERGY. Exercise boosts energy, gives mental clarity, increases confidence, strengthens you, improves your health, and I could go on. This is the pillar so much is built on. Make it a daily non-negotiable. It doesn’t have to be a crazy time commitment but move your body daily!
5. Nourishing Foods
Goal = Hydrate your life! – Half your body weight a day in ounces of water. Drink 1 full cup when you wake up
Goal = 5-7 Small meals throughout the day. Eat Clean Real Food- More veggies, lean proteins, fruits, whole grains
True health and energy start on the inside, with the foods you choose to fuel you. Proper nutrition is about so much more than your weight. It’s about properly nourishing your body so you can operate at your peak levels. Nutrition impacts your health, mental clarity, energy, immune system, digestion, skin, and I could go on. At the minimum start with these small goals. If you need more guidance be sure to let me know! Our lifestyle programs could be just what you need to simplify healthy living and self-care. It doesn’t have to be a chore or overwhelming thing to keep up with, it can be a seamless way of life… a lifestyle.
6. Sleep
Goal = 7-9 hours a night
It’s been proven your IQ drops lower when you are sleep deprived than when you are intoxicated. There are phases in life and sometimes this much sleep might not be possible, but commit to getting as much sleep as you can. Cut out some distractions at night so you can go to sleep earlier. You will see such a boost in ambition, energy, motivation, cravings, & clarity.
7. Gratitude
Goal = 3 different things you are grateful for each day
This is all about training your mind. What we focus on becomes our reality, where our attention goes our energy goes. Gratitude helps us shift our perspective so we can focus energy on the good, have a more positive mindset, and become more aware of the opportunities all around us.
8. Mindfulness
Goal = Daily meditation and do something that grounds you/inspires you 1x a week
This is all about connection, harnessing your intuition, being fully present in the moment, training your mind, and inner peace. Start small, with just one minute a day if necessary. Try box breathing or check out Insight Timer. A free app for guided meditations.
9. Healthy Relationships
Goal = Connect with a person or community that empowers you 1x a week
We are the collection of the five people we spend the most time with – so choose wisely! 😉
This is not about cutting every negative nelly out of your life. This is about being intentional with how much time you spend with people. Do you have anyone in your life who empowers you, inspires you, believes in you? If not start there. Even if it’s through books and podcasts – spend time with people who are being proactive in their days and living life the way you want to live.
10. Intentional Living
Goal = Set a Daily Intention
Goal = 1 Intentional Act of Kindness each day
This is all about bringing a little more intentionality to each day so that intentional living becomes a way of life. Remember where your attention goes, your energy goes. Starting out your day with an intention sets the tone for your day and sets you up for celebrating accomplished progress each day. Also one of the most impactful ways to lift yourself up is by doing something kind for others. This will not only boost your energy but will help you strengthen the belief in your ability to make an impact in the world. Every day, every small action… it all counts and compounds.
11. Have a Morning Ritual
Goal = Carve out time for you each morning before you start your day
This alone will make you feel like you have super-powers. There is something so powerful about making time for you before you make time for the rest of the world. It gives you a sense of accomplishment, allows you to set the tone for your day, boosts your energy, and I could go on. Even if it’s just 5 minutes, create time in your mornings for you to tackle some of these habits. Take charge of your day rather than allowing the day to take charge of you.
12. Invest in Yourself
Goal = Daily reflection, weekly planning, a system of accountability and support for Growth/Mental Health, invest in a coach
If you do not invest in yourself who will?
Whether it be a course, workshop, book, success partner, mastermind, coach, or therapist …. commit to something that will continuously support you in living your very best life.
If you are not already working 1:1 with me or another coach, I cannot recommend this enough! I say this as a coach and from working with coaches personally.
More often than not we are completely blinded to the strengths, roadblocks, and opportunities right in front of us. The role of a coach is to help you pull out the greatness that is already inside of you. Help you see your true potential through a new lens, and then take ongoing action towards the higher levels you are meant for in life. Coaches help you be your best.
