Are you getting the nutrients and hydration your body needs?
My instincts say you answered “no” to this question, and that is completely okay! MOST people are not getting the nutrition and hydration that their body needs to perform daily tasks at the optimal level. The benefits of fueling your body with the right nutrients and fluid are endless, and I hope they convince you to make this a priority in your life because it can have a major impact on your mood and overall health!
What are Essential Nutrients?
According to the World Health Organization, essential nutrients are compounds that the body can’t make or can’t make in sufficient quantity. Therefore, these nutrients must come from food, and they’re vital for disease prevention, growth, and good health. Essential nutrients can be divided into two categories, macronutrients, and micronutrients.
Macronutrients are the primary portion of your diet. These include protein, carbohydrates, and fat which provide energy for your body to function. Micronutrients are the vitamins and minerals essential for health. They can help fight off disease, boost immunity and prevent severe health problems.
Minerals are another essential nutrient. Some of the most common minerals are calcium, iron, and zinc. These minerals help you maintain strong bones and teeth, keep a healthy metabolism, and stay properly hydrated, which we are going to talk more about!
If you maintain a well-balanced diet, your body likely gets enough of these essential nutrients, however, there are many healthy vitamins and supplements that can ensure you get all of the essential vitamins and minerals your body needs to stay as healthy as possible! Sadly our soils are more and more depleted of nutrients nowadays dues to the use of pesticides and other chemicals, so supplements will become more and more necessary as time goes on. These supplements lead with replacing what the soils have lost.
Healthy Hydration
Water is crucial to your makeup as a human being. The human body is made up of 62% water. In fact, we can’t go more than a couple of days without it. Water intake improves brain function and can heighten your mood. It helps flush toxins, carry nutrients throughout the body, and prevents constipation. Even a little bit of dehydration can make you feel tired and not quite like your best self, which is why hydrations is SO important if you are looking to take your life to the next level. You have to fuel your body so it can function at the optimal level. The rule of thumb is to drink half your body weight a day in ounces of water. If you need help developing the habit these water bottles remind you in a fun way! This one lights up to remind you, and this one has motivational markers.
The Easiest Way to Get Enough Nutrients and Water
Like I mentioned above, a healthy, well-balanced diet will provide you with all the essential nutrients and hydration that your body needs, but if we are being realistic, there are many days where a standard diet doesn’t provide everything our body needs to operate at it’s best. I swear by a morning shake with my favorite dense nutritional supplement. You can find it here. It fuels my body with everything it needs so I can be my best self!
And when it comes to hydration, I try to carry a water bottle with me wherever I go! Having constant access to water makes it easy to drink throughout the day. I also love this hydration boost. Typical sports drinks have too much sugar and artificial ingredients that can dehydrate you. Hydrate is made for performance with a balance of carbohydrates, electrolytes, and water to replace what you lose (especially during intense workouts). Plus it tastes delicious!
