Not everyone will get it, but if it makes you feel happy, fulfilled, and helps you grow – do it anyway.
This is probably the biggest piece of advice I want to give any of you deciding to follow your heart or pursue something new in life.
It’s something I also shared with a coach I mentor recently when people in her life reached out with disapproving and hurtful words. My heart truly broke for her because I’ve been there, and know how discouraging it can be.
Truthfully I was also enraged for her because she is one of the most genuine and kind people I’ve ever met.. and the fact that people would try and bring her down made no logical sense.
Actually the fact that there are so many people out there that try and bring people down breaks my heart.
But the sad truth is, not everyone embraces growth and change at the same pace in life… or at all.
Sometimes, actually unfortunately, you should plan on and prepare yourself, that there will be people who will lash out, express disapproving opinions, or try to bring you down when you are reaching for new levels in your life.
It will hurt like hell, but know that it probably has nothing to do with you, and everything to do with them.
When people are stuck or unhappy in life, seeing other people be proactive and take steps towards their own success or happiness can be really painful for them.
And unfortunately it’s much easier for them to deflect or lash out, than face the reality of their own situation or unhappiness.
I’m not putting these people down, hell I’ve been there! We all grow at different rates.
But what you need to know as you go into this really exciting growth spurt in your life is that other people’s opinions or hurtful actions are not personal.
Accept that they are not yet at a point that they are willing to face or change the unhappiness or pain in their life, and seeing you go for it… well it only reminds them that they are not going for it.
Send loving thoughts their way, wish them the best, know they’re at a different place in life, and let them enjoy where they are – but keep doing what you’re doing!
Rather than letting people pull you down to their level, continue to live your life in a way that feels genuine and that lights you up. Become steadfast in your resolve to make your dreams a reality and know that you living by example and pursuing all you’re capable of – well that’s how you’ll be able to give the very best to all those who support, empower, and need you.
Keep rising up, you’re onto something HUGE!
All the love,
Nicole
