If you have been following me for a while then you might know that I LOVE tequila. In fact, I have an entire Pinterest board dedicated to tacos and tequila. A little extreme, I think not! In my previous life, (hehe ok a few years back) I worked for a large beverage company which meant I learned how to create cocktails from some of the best mixologists from all over the world.
In this post, I’ve listed out some delicious, natural, low-sugar tequila recipes to help you celebrate Cinco de Mayo, (or any day), without the guilt of too many tacos or too many sugary drinks.
Drink Your Greens
INGREDIENTS:
- 2 oz. Casamigos Blanco
- 2 oz. fresh green juice
- 0.5 oz. fresh lime juice
- 0.5 oz. agave nectar
- 8 to 10 mint leaves
- 2 cucumber slices
DIRECTIONS:
Combine all ingredients into a tin shaker. Muddle mint and cucumber and shake vigorously for 8 to 10 seconds. Fine strain into rocks glass and add fresh ice. Garnish with cucumber slice and mint sprig.
Spicy Roots
INGREDIENTS:
- 2 oz. Casamigos Blanco
- 1 oz. fresh beet juice
- 1 oz. fresh lime juice
- 0.5 oz. agave nectar
- 4 basil leaves
- 2 serrano chili slices
- 2 dashes orange bitters
- ½ thick rim of Tajin salt mixture
DIRECTIONS:
Combine all ingredients into a tin shaker. Muddle basil and serranos and shake vigorously for 8 to 10 seconds. Fine strain into rocks glass and add fresh ice. Garnish with basil leaf and serrano slice.
Casa Clean Margarita
INGREDIENTS:
- 2 oz. Casamigos Reposado
- 2 oz. fresh lime juice
- 0.5 oz. agave nectar
- 2 dashes grapefruit bitters
- 2 fresh ginger slices
DIRECTIONS:
Combine all ingredients into a tin shaker. Muddle ginger and shake vigorously for 8 to 10 seconds. Fine strain into rocks glass and add fresh ice. Garnish with the half-moon grapefruit slice and lime wedge.
Raspberry, Lime and Tequila
INGREDIENTS:
- 8 raspberries
- 1 teaspoon honey
- Juice of 1/2 lime
- 2 fresh mint leaves
- 1-ounce tequila
- Cold sparkling water
DIRECTIONS:
Place raspberries, honey and lime juice in a small measuring cup. Muddle mixture until raspberries release their juices. Strain through a fine mesh sieve, pressing down on solids to remove all liquid. Add mint leaves to the strained mixture and muddle to release mint fragrance. Pour mixture over ice and top with tequila and sparkling water. Serve immediately.
Aperol Tequila Cocktail
INGREDIENTS:
- 1 1/2 oz. blanco tequila
- 1/2 oz. aperol
- 1/2 oz.elderflower liqueur
- 3/4 oz. lemon juice
- 2 dashes angostura bitters
- orange peel for garnish
DIRECTIONS:
Place ice in a shaker. Add all the ingredients. Shake for 30 to 45 seconds. Pour over ice and garnish with an orange peel.
Skinny Paloma
This is my Personal Favorite!
INGREDIENTS:
- 12 ounces fresh grapefruit juice (2-3 pink or red grapefruits, juiced)
- 2 ounces tequila
- 2 teaspoons lime juice
- ice
- grapefruit flavored sparkling water (optional)
- pink Himalayan sea salt (for the rim)
DIRECTIONS:
Add 1 shot of tequila, 6 ounces of grapefruit juice, 1 teaspoon of lime juice and ice into each glass. Stir to combine, add of splash of sparkling water (if using) and garnish with a lime wedge.
Strawberry Tequila Sunrise
INGREDIENTS:
- 1 OZ STRAWBERRY PÙREE (blen frozen or fresh strawberries)
- 3 oz orange jùice
- 1 1/2 oz teqùila
DIRECTIONS:
Add strawberry pùree to a tall serving glass. Fill with ice. Add orange jùice and top with teqùila. Stir before serving.
Farmer’s Market Margarita
INGREDIENTS:
- 1 1/4 ounces Corzo Silver
- 2 sprigs cilantro
- 2 slices cucumber
- 2 slices jalapeno
- 1 ounce fresh lime juice
- 2 ounces distilled water
- 1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 lime wheel, for garnish
DIRECTIONS:
Combine first seven ingredients in a mixing glass with ice and shake. Serve over the rocks and garnish with lime wheel.
