Do you know there is something you crave and long for even more than love?!
Yes, love is so important, it’s the root of so much in life and you need it! But have you ever noticed that you’re still not fully content or fulfilled even when you have wonderful love your life?
There’s a reason why… and today I’m going to let you in on the secret 😉
So what do you need even more than love?
Personal Growth.
I nerd out about personal growth and for good reason! It is part of our makeup.
As humans, we’re driven for progress. Each of us has this burning desire to reach our full potential and be the very best we can in life. We all feel called to something more. And when we ignore this calling to our greater potential or limit ourselves, that is when we begin to feel stuck, stagnant, anxious or confused. It’s when we lose our passion in life.
When we fail to lean into our full potential – to challenge ourselves to grow, it’s when we start to lose our spark. And that just cannot be! So let’s get ahead of it here today♥
Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs
Abraham Maslow was an American psychologist best known for creating Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs. His work and studies proved that there are five needs that must be met in order for us to feel fulfilled, whole, and happy in life. These needs spark motivation and guide our quest in life.

Most of these needs, especially the first four levels, happen pretty naturally. They are physiological needs like food and water. Once those needs are fulfilled, you move on to safety and shelter. Third comes love and connection, and the fourth is esteem.
But at the very, very top of the pyramid is self-actualization.
Self-actualization is what we are looking for when it comes to true fulfillment and happiness in life, and it is reached by focusing on personal growth.
Self-actualization & Personal Growth
Maslow emphasized the importance of self-actualization, which is a process of growing and developing as a person in order to achieve individual potential. One characterization of self-actualization is having frequent peak experiences.
According to Maslow, a peak experience involves “Feelings of limitless horizons opening up to the vision, the feeling of being simultaneously more powerful and also more helpless than one ever was before, the feeling of ecstasy and wonder and awe, the loss of placement in time and space with, finally, the conviction that something extremely important and valuable had happened, so that the subject was to some extent transformed and strengthened even in his daily life by such experiences.”
In other words, these are moments of transcendence in which a person emerges feeling changed and transformed (very well mind).
Self-actualized people:
- Accept themselves and others for who they are
- Are realistic using both logic and reason
- Are motivated by an ethical responsibility
- Are independent and content
- Enjoy solitude and time for thinking
- Have a thoughtful sense of humor
- Are open, unconventional and spontaneous
- They enjoy the journey not just the destination
While we can’t control everything in our life, what we can do is create habits that move us towards self-actualization. To get started and keep it simple you can give yourself 10 minutes a day to read, listen to, or watch something empowering and educational. Choose something that is going to challenge, educate, or empower you. By building this habit you will continuously spark motivation and drive in your life. You will feel more at peace with who you are.
