Last week, I congratulated a client of mine for finally launching a website for her side gig.
It was a goal that she had set for herself that allowed her to move forward and progress in her business. As I was celebrating her success, she started to play it down as she didn’t feel like she had achieved anything. She was too focused on how far she still had to go to hitting her big goals that she felt uncomfortable and undeserving of celebrating this small milestone.
Why do we deprive ourselves of celebrating our progress in this way?
I get it. As ambitious females in this modern world, we are always striving towards hitting the next milestone. You pride yourself on staying focused and on track and you never stop moving forward.
But, if we don’t take the time to acknowledge and celebrate our small successes, is all our hard work even worth it?
Taking the time to mark your little victories and to reward yourself for achieving them can help you stay motivated, determined and allow you to reflect on your journey thus far.
So, I want to give you a challenge.
I want you to allow yourself to see your progress. I want you to give yourself permission to pause, celebrate and reward yourself for your hard work. Feel all that goodness that comes with making these major strides towards your goals, whether in your professional or personal life.
Progress = maintaining endurance and motivation in life. It helps prevent burnout, reignites your passion, and aligns you back with WHY you set your goals in the first place.
Not sure what to celebrate?
Start by writing down your goals and what you need to do to achieve them. Be specific. Be action-led. Then celebrate every small win! It could be finishing a course that has led you to learn a new skill, converting a lead from social media into a paying customer, publishing a new blog post that is valuable to your audience or receiving amazing feedback or a testimonial.
As for the reward itself? It doesn’t have to be anything huge. You don’t have to crack open the $100 bottle of champagne every time. It can be a nature walk with your hubby, a bubble bath, quiet time to relax or even a cheeky celebratory cocktail with the girls on Friday night.
Just do something to acknowledge how far you have come in creating the life you have dreamed of!
So what are you going to do to celebrate this accomplishment? Let me know in the comments below. I want the party streamers coming from every angle!
