Today, let’s go big with intentions!
This is a long lesson but trust me it’s an impactful one!
Setting a daily intention is something I challenge myself to each day. It helps set the tone for my day and feel as though I am accomplishing something worthwhile each day.
Before I jump into all of this – first I want to draw attention to the difference between Intentions and Goals.
I think we all understand the value and necessity of setting goals, but I wonder how many of you set intentions?
What’s the difference? Well goal setting helps us to see the future, understand what we want, create a plan, and stay on track to get it done. It’s very impactful! But just setting goals can have a little downside. Too much emphasis on your goals can take us out of the moment and create an emphasis on what we don’t have.
Then what happens if you set a goal and fail to achieve them?
We don’t want you to stop setting goals when this happens!
Let’s be honest it’s great to have goals but it’s more about the person you become in pursuit of the goal. Yes you want to achieve them, and some you will… but some you will not. And that’s ok! What’s not ok is feeling as though you never do enough or like a failure if you miss a goal.🙈
I can promise you, if you are working towards a goal in your life, you are far from a failure.
So how can we get ahead of this!?
The way to balance this AND enjoy the progress towards a goal is to set an intention each day.
Intentions are about who you want to be, what you wish to contribute to the world, and how you choose to touch the lives of others.
Living your intentions allows you to focus on who you are in the moment, to recognize and live your values, and to raise your emotional energy… which in turn raises your physical energy towards your goals.
I’m going to go more into this throughout the week but for now take a minute to reflect back on your last week. And tonight set an intention for how you want to carry yourself throughout this week.
Let’s break down what setting an intention can help you do.
- Ultimately I think it helps you live with more happiness.
- They provide a roadmap and reminder for how to live out each day.
- They give you purpose, as well as the inspiration and motivation to achieve your purpose. The practice of setting daily intentions is all about making tiny shifts in perspective that can change your life.
- It helps take your mind off of problems and perceived limitations. Instead, it puts your focus on something that will have a positive impact on your life. Clearly stating how you intend to feel today instead of wishing that you felt better puts the power of change in your own hands.
My challenge to you guys ➳
Each morning as you are having your coffee, tea, or superfoods ➳ set an intention for the day. Get your mind in the right place for peace, progress, and happiness EACH DAY.
Example: Today I will trust in timing. I will be grateful for where I am here and now.
For accountability and to lift each other up – feel free to share your intentions here with me! Let’s tackle intentional living together 😊
