Memorial Day always marks the start of the summer season for us, and with the summer season, comes hot days outside and cool tasty drinks! Luckily cocktails don’t have to be full of sugar to be delicious. Here are some some low calorie drinks to make your summer celebrations refreshing and tasty without the guilt!
blueberry mint fiz
INGREDIENTS:
- 1 ½ oz. Blueberry vodka
- St. Germaine Liquor (or agave syrup)
- 1 ½ oz. club soda
- 5-8 mint leaves
- Blueberries
INSTRUCTIONS:
- Place mint leaves in a cocktail shaker and muddle.
- Add regular ice, vodka, agave or St. Germain Liquor and club soda – shake
- Enjoy!
coconut mojito
INGREDIENTS:
- ½ cup fresh mint
- 1 lime cut into wedges
- ¼ cup white rum
- 1 cup coconut water
- Ice
- Sparkling water
INSTRUCTIONS:
- In the bottom of a shaker, muddle fresh mint and lime wedges. Add white rum, and coconut water. Fill with ice and shake until chilled.
- Strain over two glasses filled with ice and top with sparkling water.
Spiked Cherry Lemonade Slush
INGREDIENTS:
- 2 packets Crystal Light Lemonade
- 3 fl oz. Cherry Vodka or vodka of your choice
- 1 ½ cups water
- 2 cups ice
INSTRUCTIONS:
- Add all ingredients into a high power blender and blend until smooth and slushie texture.
- Pour into 2 glasses and sip away!
Grapefruit Tequila Slammer
INGREDIENTS:
- 4 ounces fresh grapefruit juice
- 2 ounces silver tequila
- 2 ounces lemon lime seltzer
- Garnish with additional grapefruit
INSTRUCTIONS:
- Add all ingredients to glass with ice. To get it to fizz up and mix, cover top of glass with your hand and give it a good shake.
- Enjoy!
Skinny Frosé
INGREDIENTS (MAKES APPROXIMATELY 4 COCKTAILS):
- 2 bottles Rosé
- 1 cup Sparkling ICE Lemonade
- 2 ice cube trays
- Fresh strawberries (for garnish)
- Blender
INSTRUCTIONS:
- Fill two ice cube trays with Rosé and let them freeze overnight
- Fill a blender with your frozen Rosé ice cubes, 1 cup Sparkling ICE lemonade, and 1 cup Rosé.
- Blend until ice is no longer chunky, but be sure not to over blend. Only a couple of seconds are needed, or use the pulse option until the mixture is smooth
- Divide Frosé mix between 4 glasses and garnish with fresh strawberries!
White Strawberry-Lemon Sangria
INGREDIENTS:
- 2 lemons, thinly sliced
- 1 apple, cored and sliced
- 1 cup strawberries, hulled and sliced lengthwise
- 1 (750ml) bottle of white wine
- ½ cup light rum
- 4 cups lemon-lime seltzer
INSTRUCTIONS:
- Add lemon slices to a larger pitcher, then the apples and strawberries.
- Pour the wine and rum over the top.
- Cover and place in the refrigerator for 4-5 hours
- Remove from refrigerator and add the lemon lime soda. Add a few pieces of the fruit to your glass and pour sangria over to serve.
Try using fresh ingredients vs. packages ones. For example squeeze fresh lemon and lime juice vs. buying it store bought in a bottle. A lot of the time those have added sugars. Making things from scratch is not only healthier, but also more flavorful, so it’s a win/win. Memorial day and summer will be here before we know it!
