After I was diagnosed with skin cancer sunscreen became my safety blanket. You can imagine my horror when a few years later it came out that some sunscreens can actually cause damage to your body.
It was hard to believe at first, but then I did some research and found out there were some definite question marks around certain ingredients. The one that surprised me most was Oxybenzone.

Is Oxybenzone safe?
Oxybenzone is found in a majority of sunscreens on the market. The FDA has found that it is allergenic, can be detected in breast milk, amniotic fluid, and blood. And is a potential endocrine disrupter among other things.
Super discouraging for sure, but the good news is the FDA is now further investigating regulation around sunscreen and there are some great products out there that pass the test for safe ingredients.
The EWG is a great reference for sunscreens with safe ingredients.
And if you’re picky about the way sunscreen feels like me, here are some of my tried and true.
I’ve probably tried over a hundred brands over these last few years because I’m so picky about the way sunscreen feels on my skin.
These have all passed the test with flying colors. They only use safe ingredients and feel light (almost non-existent!) on the skin.
