Sometimes, we only see the true value and beauty of something when it is taken away from us. For me, it was my voice.
Recently, I had the amazing opportunity to share my story and journey with Daniel Levin on his podcast – The Mosiac Podcast. We had an inspiring conversation about the ways we limit ourselves and the things we take for granted in life. It took me being diagnosed with cancer for the third time and losing my voice to realize how precious it really is.
People spend most of their lives living within the four walls they built around themselves and hiding their voices away – both physically and philosophically. We live in fear of being unworthy, judged, condemned, or called out by the people around them.
But what if your voice was taken away from you? Would you regret playing small, holding yourself back, or not fully expressing yourself?
I was taught to be quiet and hide my voice from a young age. I believed that if I spoke up, bad things would happen. For me, it was the risk of being taken away from my mother if I spoke about what was happening in my home life.
I spent far too long being afraid of my own voice and I know I’m not the only one. I truly believe that you don’t always get what you want, but you get what you need. Sometimes we need a wake-up call to help us realize this and see things more clearly. Sometimes we need to break into small little pieces, like a mosaic, in order to piece your life back together in a way that is truer, connected, and more aligned with who you really are and all you’re capable of.
I want to help you overcome your fear and feeling of unworthiness.
I want to help you believe that you, your life, and your voice matter.
I want to help you speak up, live out loud, and take ownership of your voice.
Don’t spend a moment longer hiding it away. Start aligning your life with your true priorities, what’s calling out to you in life, and speak up about what really matters to you.
