Today, I want to tell you something you need to hear… You have everything it takes to be and do all you want in this life.
A month ago or so, I had the honor of speaking to new coaches starting their coaching careers. When I was first asked to speak in front of the group, I almost said, “no” because public speaking has always been one of my greatest fears.
But then I quickly realized saying no…that would go against everything I believe.
So I opened my heart and shared a little of my story in hopes that I might be able to touch and empower someone who needed to hear this message I am so passionate about sharing.
Today I want to share some of that with you as well ♥
Overcoming odds stacked against you
It’s still hard to believe, but right before my 31st birthday I was diagnosed with cancer for the third time. While yes this cancer diagnoses was terrifying and painful, the most overwhelming emotions I felt were frustration and anger.
You see, I haven’t been dealt the best cards throughout my life…
I grew up in a home filled with drugs, alcohol, neglect, and abuse. Fearing for my life is something I had to get accustomed to at a very young age. So the fear of this diagnosis wasn’t what stopped me in my tracks. It was that it seemed so unfair that wven after years of leaning into adversity, doing all I could to make something of myself, to be strong, to prove myself, to be a good person… it still wasn’t enough.
Between the ages of 25 and 30 I was tested time and time again in life. You could say life relentlessly tried to knock me down.
I was diagnosed with cancer 3 times. Faced over a dozen other precancerous scares. Lost my mother to cancer. Feared for my life at the finish line during the Boston Marathon Bombings. Was laid off from the job I made my number 1 priority in life for years. Was disappointed and betrayed by some of the people closest to me. Went through a major breakup.
Almost entirely lost my voice due to surgical complications.
And watched my grandmother, my shining light in life, go from being healthy to fighting for and losing her life in a matter of months.
Yup my life crumbled.
But I didn’t.
I refused.
Actually I did the opposite…
Now I look at these times as my wake up calls in life.
And today I’m here to be your wake up call
Your pain can have some purpose
While yes each of these trying times shook me to my core, I now look back on them as blessings. Each trying time gave me a whole new perspective on life…. opened my eyes to how precious life is, what means the most, and that it’s up to us to make the most of it.
With that you discover that life experiences, pain, and leaning into relentless adversity… it’s all gives you very special gifts that can help others in so many ways.
Before my grandmother passed away she challenged me. Even though everything seemed great on the outside, she could see through the lie. She could see how unhappy and unfulfilled I was. She told me I was meant I was meant for more. She believed in me before I could believe in myself.
It was hard to see at the time but after she passed away I made a promise to live up to her belief and carry out her legacy. With that my business, my mission, and Higher Level Living was born in spite of all this adversity.
I truly believe we’re all capable of living at a Higher Level. Of rising above adversity, fears, insecurities, pain, limiting beliefs, and upbringings to make the most of life.
We just have to decide we want to.
And from there it’s not about having it all figured or going it alone. It’s about taking it one step at a time at a time, leaning into your fears, living with then end in mind, and building your belief along the way.
Coaching has changed my life. It’s helped me to grow as a person and help other people do the same. You wouldn’t be here, listening to this video if you didn’t feel like you were meant for more. If you have that burning calling inside of you that you are meant to share your story… that your pain can have some purpose… put the fear aside, and share it.
I’m here to share what’s worked for me. I’m here to help you strengthen your own self belief. To believe in you like my grandmother believed in me.
Let me guide you through, help you believe in yourself, in your story, and in your purpose.
